About Us
Founded in 2014, ACCOLADE Celebrations, Inc., is a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose purpose is to provide volunteer, service-learning and recogntion opportunities that serve to help the homeless in Marion County, Florida. Our BAgs To Care for the Homeless (B.A.T.C.H.) initiative facilitates the preparation and distribution of Bags-To-Go which are filled with resource information and basic necessities. Our monthly Ovations Award showcases everyday people who have helped to improv the well-being of the homeless through an Act of Kindness, and our Acts of Kindness Awards is an annual awards and recognition gala to: 1) celebrate ordinary people who have committed their time and energy to improving the lives of those in their communities; 2) bring awareness to the prevalence of homelessness in Florida; and 3) raise funds for the volunteer activities ACCOLADE Celebrations coordinates and for a local homeless shelter.
In an era where more attention is given to negative publicity and the ills of the world, ACCOLADE Celebrations understands the need and importance of setting special time aside to recognize and show appreciation for the good things people do. ACCOLADE Celebrations strives to meet this need, while especially focusing on workers in the service, public safety and health care industries, but also your average “Joe and Jane” who display Acts of Kindness.
ACCOLADE Celebrations was founded by Wanda L. Adams. Ms. Adams has covered all aspects of coordinating special events. She has planned and facilitated executive-level meetings and produced special events representing a variety of themes. Ms. Adams is a graduate from three prestigious universities and holds the following credentials, Certificate in Event Management from George Washington University, Master in Applied Behavior Science from Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Morgan State University. These credentials have equipped Ms. Adams to work effectively with people with various backgrounds and at all levels of an organization, from food service managers to create fabulous menus to in-house audiovisual services to provide sound. She has built a database of contacts for many event support services, including graphic designers, florists, and entertainment providers.
Simply put, ACCOLADE Celebrations strives to follow, in spirit and in deed, Philippians 4:8 – “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things” (NIV).
